Pollard Coffee Gives Back
Pollard Coffee, a micro-roaster located on Vashon Island, Washington, is committed to giving back to the coffee industry, and in particular coffee farmers and their families.
Recently, Robin Pollard, owner/roaster, contributed to the East-West Challenge, a fundraiser to support Grounds for Health. The mission of Grounds for Health is to prevent cervical cancer around the world, which kills more women in developing countries than any other cancer. Yet, it is 100% preventable with early detection and treatment.
“As a farmer and cancer survivor myself, I believe it is important to support those who grow the crops, and in particular, women in agriculture”, said Ms. Pollard.
Pollard Coffee will be teaming up with Andrew Will Winery, also located on Vashon, to support the Scavenger Hunt, organized by CoffeeTalk magazine, held in conjunction with the upcoming SCAA annual convention. Proceeds of their donations of coffee and wine will benefit several coffee-related foundations.
Pollard Coffee was established three years ago out of a passion for coffee roasting. Prior to this, Ms. Pollard headed several state organizations including the Washington Wine Commission and the Washington State Tourism Office. She grew up on a farm in Iowa and planted her own vineyard in eastern Washington last year.
