The fifth annual United States AeroPress Championship will be hosted by Chattahoochee Coffee Westside at 790 Huff Rd. NW in Atlanta, GA on Saturday April 16th at 7:00PM. The event is free and open to spectators. 28 competitors from across the US will go head-to-head in heats to see who can brew the best cup of coffee using an AeroPress coffee maker.
Aerobie, Inc., makers of the AeroPress coffee maker, have made custom gold, silver, and bronze AeroPress trophies for the top three winners. Aerobie will also fly the winner to Dublin, Ireland to represent the US in the 2016 World AeroPress Championship on Thursday June 23rd.
The US-made AeroPress was invented by Stanford engineering lecturer Alan Adler, who also invented the Guinness World Record setting Aerobie flying ring. The World AeroPress Championship, now in its ninth year, is a grass roots event which has grown to nearly 50 national competitions worldwide. Past World Championships have taken place in Seattle, Rimini, Melbourne, Portland (OR), Milan, London, and Oslo (twice). The Championship was founded in 2008 by world-famous coffee experts Tim Wendelboe and Tim Varney in Oslo, Norway.
