“Selling at Whole Foods is a natural extension to an existing business relationship,” explains Groundwork Co-Owner, Eddy Cola. “In addition to our companies sharing a similar sensibility in regards to how we conduct our business and the products we sell, we appeal to the same customers. Sales of our Groundwork 1 pound cans of organic coffee beans at Whole Foods have doubled in the last 1 ½ years. We have strong expectations for Certified Organic Cold Brew Coffee as Groundwork/Whole Foods is a business combination that works.”
Groundwork Certified Organic Cold Brew is made in the company’s North Hollywood roastery. Coarse ground roasted beans are first steeped in purified water in small batches for 24 hours to produce the highest quality taste. Cold brewing assures the richest flavor with low acidity. (Conversely, pouring hot coffee over ice results in a higher acidity.) The toddy is then diluted with purified water and poured into amber bottles.
Great thought was put into the Cold Brew Coffee container. Amber glass was chosen because reflects light, allowing for longer shelf life and being a recyclable material, its use further supports Groundwork’s commitment to sustainability. The “heritage” silhouette of the bottle gives the product an authentic, vintage look that has been popularized by the aesthetics of the six Groundwork cafes.
The label also features a handcrafted, artisan look. But it doesn’t end with design. As an additional commitment to sustainability, the Groundwork Certified Organic Cold Brew label is made of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper. This assures the paper is sourced from 100 percent well managed forests or from a mixture of well managed forests and recycled materials.
