About Proof Lab Surf Shop:
Proof Lab, Marin County’s pioneering surf and skate boutique, was founded in 2004 and has grown into what is now the largest surf & skate shop in the Bay Area, occupying three buildings at Tam Junction in Mill Valley. Their mission is to build an alternative retail model to the standard mall format: one that is more interactive, sustainable, and community-oriented. Proof Lab’s retail offerings range from a massive selection of surfboards, wetsuits and skateboards to clothing and accessories for all ages. Activities available at Proof Lab include an indoor skate ramp, surf camp, music lessons, art and ceramics studios, sustainability workshops, and surfboard shaping and repair. Proof Lab is open 10 am-6pm every day, and online at www.prooflab.com
Coffee Bar Design:
The intimate design of the coffee bar is described as “beach shack meets modern day coffee bar.” Created by Boor Bridges Architecture of San Francisco, the coffee bar is equipped with copper fixtures and Red Elm furnishings. The simple space pays homage to Proof Lab’s rich surf culture, incorporating plenty of surf elements. Equator’s signature red is infused throughout the design, most notably the eye-catching red exterior with Equator’s iconic Bengal Tiger mascot. The coffee bar is designed with an outdoor patio for enjoyment of the sunny surf shop atmosphere, featuring a large table to encourage a communal coffee experience. The seating area has surfboards on display for sale and is surrounded by lush plantings, including tall native grasses and colorful planters.
