Dutch Bros. Coffee Raises Over $350,000 for MDA
GRANTS PASS, Ore. (May 14, 2014) — Friday, May 2, Dutch Bros. Coffee and the communities it serves banded together to raise a record breaking $352,591 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in honor of the late co-founder Dane Boersma.
“It’s an absolute mind blow,” said Travis Boersma, Dane’s brother and Dutch Bros. Coffee Co-Founder. “I’m amazed and moved by everyone who works so hard in the company and super thankful for everyone who contributed to this important day.”
All 221 Dutch Bros. Coffee locations in seven states donated proceeds to MDA, the world leader in fighting Lou Gehrig’s disease, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The donation surpassed last year’s donation by over $81,000, bringing the company’s total to over $1.26 million.
“There was so much love on for Dane and the thousands of families living with ALS,”says MDA Area Director Arlene Wedsted. “Each cup of coffee directly benefits MDA’s mission to save and improve lives for people living with ALS by providing vital funds needed to help find treatments and cures.”
“I believe through concentrated efforts over time we will find a cause and a cure for Lou Gerhig’s Disease,” said Travis Boersma. “In the meantime, people who suffer with this illness will also receive support and services needed.”
