Barista & Farmer, day eight
Papaya Power team wins the stripping competition with 140 kg of cherries
Lambarì, may 11 – Day eight, the conclusion of the third edition of Barista & Farmer, the talent show dedicated to quality coffee created by Francesco Sanapo, is getting closer. Before the announced departure for Santos, to visit the museum of coffee, there’s time for a last picking competition, this time to be done in teams.
Once again, as already done before, the stripping method, one of the most common picking techniques in Brazil, was used. It allows to pick great quantities of cherries in a short time: they will later be separated in a second moment. The winner team was Papaya Power, which collected 140kgs of cherries.
The last activity in Lambarì was a breath of fresh air for the ten international baristas after days of hard work: a trip to the Cachaca Ranch, where the tipical brazilian spirit based on sugarcane is distilled.
Now the time has come to really leave Lambarì and move to Santos. The trip of the baristas in the biggest coffee producing country continues.
