Barista & Farmer day 10
PRESS RELEASE
Barista & Farmer, day ten
Papaya Power team wins the signature drink competition too
San Paolo, may 13 – Ten and penultimate day of Barista & Farmer, the talent show dedicated to the culture of quality coffee, created by Francesco Sanapo, now at its third edition. The hard work of the farmer’s life, waking up in the early morning to pick the best cherries, is now over. The group of ten international baristas relocated in San Paolo, but the competitions for the participants to become the third winner of Barista & Farmer are not over.
The meeting point was the old market of the brazilian metropoli, one of the symbols of the city. The baristas, once again divided in two teams, Papaya Power and Free Mandela, received 50 reals per team (around 10 euros) to do shopping: the goal was to collect all the ingredients necessary to create a signature drink, a coffee based cocktail with a strong identity.
Before the showdown, which took place at Octavio Cafè, the caffetteria of the O’Coffee farm, there was time to say goodbye to Barista & Farmer academy teacher Filippo Mazzoni (Mumac Academy) but not before one last class with the baristas.
The winning team, declared by a jury composed of Tabatha Creazo (O’Coffee), Sonja Bjork Grant (head judge at Wbc) and Andrej Godina (Umami Campus) was Papaya Power, which reacted to the victory by shouting “Beautiful Papaya!”, now a real and proper rite for the team lead by italian coffee lover Nino Conti. The winning cocktail, aptly papaya-based, will be included in Octavio’s menu and served for the next year.
We are really close to the end of the show, the challenges are over. There’s only one thing left to do, declaring the winner of the third edition of Barista & Farmer before leaving Brazil.
