Melbourne to host 2014 World Latte Art Championship

The Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE2014) has been chosen to host the 2014 World Latte Art, World Coffee in Good Spirits, and World Cup Tasters Championships.

The announcement comes after the success of MICE2013, which was host to the World Barista Championship and the World Brewers Cup.

The World Latte Art Championship combines the intricate skills of some of the world’s finest baristas with artistic expression into a competition platform that challenges the barista in an on-demand performance. Classic milk and espresso drinks are topped with designs of the barista’s creation, with emphasis on taste, replication, and creativity.

The World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship promotes innovative beverage recipes that showcase coffee and spirits in a competition format. From the traditional Irish coffee to unique cocktail combinations, this competition highlights the barista’s skills to perfectly combine coffee and alcohol.

The World Cup Tasters Championship awards the professional coffee cupper who demonstrates speed, skill, and accuracy in distinguishing the taste differences in specialty coffees.

We are really honoured that, after having such great success with the World Barista Championship and the World Brewers Cup in 2013, World Coffee Events has chosen the Melbourne International Coffee Expo as the stage for these three great competitions,” said MICE2014 show director, Clint Hendry.

“The ability to foster the growing and vibrant coffee community in Melbourne is an exciting opportunity by continuing our partnership with MICE2014 in their third edition of the event,” said Carl Sara, Chair of the WCE Board of Advisors. “In line with the mission of WCE to produce premiere coffee events around the world, our organization is continually seeking to build long-standing relationships with global partners, such as MICE2014.”
The 2014 Melbourne International Coffee Expo will take place from 15 – 18 May at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds.
