Joey Kramer is Rockin’ & Roastin’ with Big Y

Aerosmith’s Joey Kramer signs major retail partnership in MA & CT for his organic coffee line

image003BOSTON, MA (July 24, 2013) – Rock legend Joey Kramer, drummer for Aerosmith, is ecstatic to announce that his Rockin’ & Roastin’ organic coffee line will soon grace the shelves of all 59 Big Y locations throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Big Y, a family-owned and family-oriented retail food company based in Springfield, MA, is home to 29 locations in Massachusetts and 30 locations in Connecticut. At Big Y, the goal is to exceed customers’ evolving expectations by constantly seeking better ways to create and deliver world class service and value.
“I’m absolutely amped to be Rockin’ & Roastin’ with Big Y,” says Kramer. “Creating a partnership with a grocer of this magnitude is both thrilling and humbling and I am very grateful that we’ll be working together to bring my java to the fine people of Massachusetts and Connecticut.”
Says Big Y’s Grocery Category Manager, Bill Eichorn, “At Big Y, we are always on the lookout for cutting-edge, top quality brands. When we tasted Joey’s coffee, we knew it would be a chart-topper and were ready to jump on board.”
In May, Kramer announced his partnership with Comfort Foods (N. Andover, MA) who now roasts, packages and distributes his trio of small-batch brews: two Dark roasts, from Sumatra and Ethiopia, and one Dark-Medium, hailing from Guatemala. Previously only available for online retail, Comfort Foods now is able to meet the demand for Kramer’s rapid expansion into the retail market. Currently the coffee is available in both whole-bean and ground forms and soon, Kramer will unveil a single-serving option.
Through June of 2014, sipping one of Kramer’s three brews also has a delicious charitable benefit. In June, Kramer announced a year-long campaign to donate a portion of his coffee sales to auto-dealership magnate, Ernie Boch, Jr.’s (Boch Enterprises) nonprofit organization, Music Drives Us, which supplies grants for music programs to effect positive changes for people in need throughout New England.
“Ernie has been friends with Joey for many years,” adds Frank Cimler, Kramer’s attorney and Rockin’ & Roastin’ business partner. “They’re both big fans of music and coffee so it made a lot of sense. Rockin’ & Roastin’ will give a deliberate and meaningful contribution from each sale to Music Drives Us to benefit those throughout New England.”
Rockin’ & Roastin’ will be available in all Big Y locations in Massachusetts and Connecticut in late-August or early-September. For more information on Big Y, please call (413) 784-0600 or visit: For more information on Rockin’ & Roastin’, please visit:
Joey Kramer of Aerosmith is a coffee-loving Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer. The story of Joey Kramer’s Rockin’ & Roastin’ organic, custom-roasted coffee blends begins in the field. Unlike “sun grown” coffee that’s cheaper to produce but requires chemical fertilizers and pesticides and leads to the destruction of native rainforests, Rockin’ & Roastin’ Coffee is lovingly cultivated using the traditional “shade grown” method, under a canopy of indigenous trees. This sustainable practice supports a wide diversity of plant and animal life, provides food and shelter to migrating birds, and helps to filter carbon dioxide from the air, reducing the danger of global warming. There is currently a trio of international blends offered: two Dark roasts, from Sumatra and Ethiopia; and, a Dark-Medium, hailing from Guatemala. For more information, please visit:
