The sale to Kings, headquartered in Parsippany, N.J., is through UNFI of Providence, R.I., said Torie Burke, company co-founder. Chewie Fruities also now are available domestically through Associated Buyers of Barrington, N.H.; European Imports, Chicago; Quality Frozen Foods, Brooklyn, N.Y., and for export through Healthy Options, Quezon City, Philippines, and United Overseas Food Corporation, Fort Washington, Pa.
The organic chewy candy also has been approved through KeHE Distributors, Naperville, Ill.; Crown Pacific, Kent, Wash.; Nassau Candy, Hicksville, N.Y.; Gourmet Trading Company, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; Paradigm Foodworks, Lake Oswego, Ore.; Supervalu International, Tacoma, Wash., City Super Export, Hong Kong, and others, Burke said.
Chewie Fruities are available in three sophisticated flavor duos including Italian Tarocco Blood Orange and Wildflower Honey, California Pomegranate and Sweet Freestone Nectarine, and Meyer Lemon and Raspberry. A flavor assortment also is available. The candy is made in the U.S.A. and one serving provides the daily requirement of Vitamin C. Candies are individually wrapped in gusseted 4-ounce peg packs as well as a display shipper and have a suggested retail price of $3.99. They are available six to a case and 48 to a master case.
