Hula Daddy Kona Coffee Master Roaster, Laura Ross, is the State of Hawaii Retail Employee of the Year

Laura Ross, Master Roaster at Hula Daddy Kona Coffee, was declared the winner of the Retail Merchants of Hawaii, Ho’okela Award for Retail Employee of the Year. This is the first time that an employee of a Hawaiian coffee company has received this award and highlights the importance of coffee to the retail industry in Hawaii.

Laura RossThe Retail Merchants of Hawaii has awarded its prestigious annual Ho’oklea Award for State of Hawaii Retail Employee of the Year to Laura Ross, Master Roaster for Hula Daddy Kona Coffee. This is the first time that an employee of a Hawaiian coffee company has received this award.

Laura roasts at the Hula Daddy Kona Coffee plantation in Kona, Hawaii. Visitors can talk to Laura and watch her roast Kona coffee on weekdays from 10 am to 3 pm. Coffee professionals from all over the world come to talk to Laura and to roast with her. She can often be found cupping different coffees in the Hula Daddy Kona Coffee kitchen.

With Laura’s help we have been able to create amazing coffee which sell out every year. One of the coffees roasted by Laura was given the highest score every given a coffee by Coffee Review.”
Hula Daddy Kona Coffee is a boutique coffee company growing, processing and roasting its own coffee in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. It is owned by Karen and Lee Paterson, who bought a cow pasture in 2002, planted it and began to create high quality Kona Coffee. At their plantation they have a tasting room where visitors can taste their coffee. In addition, visitors are invited to tour the orchards, pick ripe coffee and help sort the ripe coffee.
