Hungry Ghost Coffee Bar & Café to Open Fifth Location

BROOKLYN, NY (July 13, 2017) – Forest City New York today announced Hungry Ghost will open its fifth coffee bar & café at 80 DeKalb. Hungry Ghost opened its first location in Prospect Heights in 2012 and now operates four coffee bars in Brooklyn and Manhattan. For those chasing the perfect shot of espresso or cold brew, the new location at 80 DeKalb will occupy 420 square feet on the ground floor and offer a menu of Portland, Oregon-based Stumptown coffees along with imported French pastries. Construction will begin in the summer for an expected October opening.

“Hungry Ghost is an ideal addition to the evolving Pacific Park neighborhood,” said MaryAnne Gilmartin, President and CEO of Forest City New York. “We value their Brooklyn roots as we look to support local businesses and help the community grow. It’s a rewarding part of our business to provide opportunities for people and companies to thrive in the heart of downtown Brooklyn.”

Hungry Ghost will enhance the 80 DeKalb residents’ living experience by providing a nearby elegant space to socialize and enjoy refreshments. The coffee bar’s central location will connect the surrounding community, as it is only steps away from the DeKalb Avenue subway station, Long Island University-Brooklyn, BRIC and Brooklyn Academy of Music.

“Since we opened our first location, we have focused on providing a unique atmosphere that adds color and flavor to the community. Not just by providing the best cup of coffee and light bites in a given neighborhood, but a place that is welcoming to all residents and visitors,” said Murat Uyaroglu, Owner and Founder of Hungry Ghost. “Brooklyn is a diverse, welcoming community and we want our customers to believe that when they come to Hungry Ghost they not only get the best quality coffee, but a truly Brooklyn experience.”

Uyaroglu also owns the cocktail bar Sweet Polly, located in Pacific Park.
