Food Safety and Sustainability Achievements

Metropolita Tea CompanyMetropolitan Tea Company is pleased to announce our recent achievement of successfully reaching the GOLD STANDARD for both HACCP and GMP Accreditation.
This Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Process assessment is a result of our ongoing diligence to maintain a quality first vision.
Our quality is maintained within our sustainable mission and with this in mind we were designated with the Toronto Board of Trade’s “Sustainability Award” at a recent Business Excellence Awards Event. Our nearly 3 acres of Solar Panels is one of the largest examples of rooftop solar programs in Ontario.
This has assisted us in becoming carbon negative and producing one million kilowatt hours of energy in the past 12 months. We also operate a 200 acre Tree Farm on the Bruce Peninsula. This is audited by the Ontario Forestry Association in conjunction with the Grey Bruce Sauble Conservation Authority. We planted 15,000 native species trees to contribute to the 50 Million Trees Ontario Program. This is a part of the United Nations goal to reach 1 Billion Trees planted each year.
We work closely with the Ethical Tea Partnership to ensure that our tea is purchased in a sustainable manner from our overseas partners, but also realize our local ecology is important too.
