Seattle, WA (September 2, 2015) – Coffee Fest Portland, October 23-25, 2015 has just announced the six coffeehouses who have qualified to compete in America’s Best Coffeehouse 2015 Western Region Championship. The winner will be awarded $2,000, the Championship Trophy and the third of six coveted positions for the 2015-2016 America’s Best Coffeehouse National Championship which will be held in Nashville, TN February 17-19, 2017.
America’s Best Coffeehouse is a unique competition that creates an authentic coffeehouse setting within the tradeshow floor, where teams recreate daily life in their coffeehouse for customer and technical judges. Competitors enter the competition months in advance by submitting applications and a three minute video of their team in action. Three people form a team and work on-site at Coffee Fest to serve the customers during the 60 minute live competition session. Teams perform in an actual café setting and are judged on a number of aspects including, cleanliness, work flow, teamwork, use of time, and quality and taste of beverages.
David Heilbrunn, president and show manager of Coffee Fest, said, “America’s Best Coffeehouse competition benefits everyone from the customers to the judges and especially the coffeehouses and their employees. This competition offers the opportunity for coffeehouses to show how efficiently they operate and for everyone to experience what it’s like to visit them.”
