Proceeds from Community® Amber Sunrise Blend Support Coastal Restoration
Baton Rouge, LA, September 2017—A promotion featuring the Community® Amber Sunrise Blend raised funds to support coastal restoration in Louisiana. Community Coffee Company partnered with America’s WETLAND Foundation (AWF) and the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL) to increase awareness of and raise funds for this vital effort.
Last spring, Community Coffee Company launched a program where for every dollar redeemed on specially-marked Community® Amber SunriseTM Blend coupons, the company would provide a matching dollar donation to land preservation efforts along the gulf coast. Almost 10,000 coupons were redeemed through the program.
“Community Coffee calls Louisiana home and has strong coastal roots,” said Scott Eckert, Vice President of Marketing for Community Coffee. “Our connection to this region makes this issue that much more important to us, and we are committed to preserving the environment where we work, play and serve our rich, smooth coffee.”
Founded in 2002, AWF is dedicated to raising public awareness of the impact Louisiana’s wetland loss has on the state, nation and world, and gaining support for efforts to conserve and save coastal Louisiana.
“America’s WETLAND Foundation values its partnership with Community Coffee. The company is a Louisiana icon and when it uses its brand to help raise awareness of what Louisiana residents consider an issue of a lifetime, it makes a difference,” Sidney Coffee, AWF Senior Advisor, said. “We can’t thank Community Coffee enough for its support of our restoration projects and advocacy efforts to help save the coast we all call home.”
CRCL is a non-profit organization with the mission to drive bold, science-based action to rebuild coastal Louisiana through outreach, restoration and advocacy. Community Coffee Company is dedicated to giving back to local communities, and coastal restoration is one of the ways Community achieves this important goal.
“Community Coffee has been a wonderful partner to CRCL for a long time,” said Kimberly Davis Reyher, CRCL Executive Director. “Their commitment to conserving our coast and to Louisiana as a whole is inspiring. This is much more than a monetary donation for us. This has helped us raise awareness of CRCL and our coastal land loss crisis.”
Community Coffee program manager Christian Campo awarded a total of $10,000 to America’s WETLAND Foundation and CRCL. Each will receive $5,000 to support coastal restoration in Louisiana.
