Groundwork Coffee Launches Single Origin “Amucc” Cold Brew, Empowering Female Organic Coffee Farmers in Colombia

Groundwork Coffee Co. Launches Single Origin “Amucc” Cold Brew, Empowering Female Organic Coffee Farmers In Colombia

Colombia-AMUCC Organic, Fair Trade Certified Bottled Cold Brew Is First In Groundwork’s New Single Origin Cold Brew Series

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, September 28, 2017 – Groundwork Coffee Co. just launched a bottled single origin Colombia-AMUCC cold brew as the first in their new Single Origin Cold Brew Series and their ongoing partnership with AMUCC, empowering female organic coffee farmers in Colombia. This certified organic, Fair Trade certified, and Non-GMO Project Verified cold brew falls in line with Groundwork’s steadfast practice of supporting their partners at origin in the often challenging world of organic coffee farming.

In Colombia, the absence of men in communities due to 25 years of upheaval has created a vacuum in the traditional family structure. Enter AMUCC, a Fair Trade certified association of women in Cauca, Colombia, empowering female coffee producers as they fill that vacuum and bring about positive social change. Earlier this year, Groundwork partnered with the group on an amazing Colombia-AMUCC whole bean coffee. Due to the overwhelming positive response to that AMUCC roast, and a desire to take their partnership to the next level, Groundwork has launched a delicious Colombia-AMUCC single origin bottled cold brew.

At AMUCC’s request, Groundwork is paying an additional $0.25/lb. to fund an interest-free revolving credit line, which will help the certified organic farmers meet short-term cash flow needs and make farm equipment upgrades. On top of the premium attached to all Fair Trade coffees, Groundwork has committed to pay a $0.06/lb. premium dedicated to supporting AMUCC’s ongoing organic programs.

The flavor profile of the Colombia-AMUCC cold brew is smooth and juicy with notes of tangerine, red currant, milk chocolate, green apple, and clover honey. It is the latest addition to Groundwork’s cold brew family, which includes the Classic (ready to drink, served on tap at their cafés and in bottles), Concentrate (great for making cold brew at home or using as an ingredient in recipes), and their most popular member — Nitro Cold Brew. Groundwork plans to release the second cold brew in their Single Origin Cold Crew Series, a Rwanda single origin cold brew, in the coming months.

About Groundwork Coffee Co.:

For 27 years, Groundwork has been a homegrown coffee and tea destination, handcrafting the best beverages with the finest ingredients. Their borderline-obsessive commitment to each cup and every customer – in warm, inviting cafés that capture the flavor of their neighborhoods – is fundamental to their business. Groundwork rose from the sands of Venice Beach, CA as a rare and used bookstore that also sold coffee and tea, but as local demand grew they got out of the book business to roast full time. They were one of the first certified organic coffee roasters in California, are the largest organic coffee roaster in Los Angeles, and their sustainable relationship-based, organic coffee sourcing has set the industry standard, as well as their solar-powered, low-emissions roasting technology. Today, Groundwork operates eight café locations throughout the Los Angeles area, distributes its coffees to more than 900 food service and grocery customers across the U.S., as well as a new roastery and cafés in Portland, Oregon to bring their mission and coffee to the Pacific Northwest.
