The crema of America’s coffee industry gathered in Portland, Oregon this past weekend to experience the hottest new trends and products in the category. Viewed by most as the source of groundbreaking concepts, Coffee Fest attracts those involved with retailing coffee, tea and related products. Baristas vied for recognition in the latte art and espresso competitions, while a host of exhibitors presented exciting new products to the industry.
Newcomer from Australia, Jindilli Farms, delighted judges and attendees with their innovative ‘Milkadamia’ (macadamia milk for baristas), winning first prize for ‘Best New Product’ in the consumable category. Barista Erin Stockton from Café Capris in Puyallup WA said, “I loved it. It’s one of the best dairy alternatives that I have used. It seems more like regular milk that anything I have used before. It foams so well and pours awesome latte art. My customers loved the taste. I am totally on board and want it in our café.”
Milkadamia was recognized amidst more than two hundred exhibitors. Judge Jan Weigle, Publisher of Fresh Cup Magazine said, “We loved it (Milkadamia). When we were judging the products we looked for something that was retailer friendly and truly innovative. It was the first time I have seen macadamia milk. The judges loved the uniqueness of the product, the quality, and the way it foamed. We all rated it very high. The mouth was really good too. It was one of those things you get a taste of and you say, ‘oh, I want more than that!’ It was amazing. All judges thought it was fabulous.”
