The Woods Coffee Announces New Pyramid Tea Sachets
Bellingham’s Spice Hut supplies Woods with new design, improved-flavor tea
Bellingham, WA—November 14, 2013—The Woods Coffee today announced its collaboration with Bellingham’s Spice Hut to completely overhaul its tea offering. Beginning immediately, Woods will offer new pyramid tea sachets, which feature an improved design and a fuller, more robust flavor.
“Spice Hut and Woods are both local, family owned businesses, so we have a lot in common in terms of vision,” said Tanvir Sidhu, co-owner and manager of day-to-day operations at The Spice Hut. “We love Woods’s passion for innovation and quality, and we share the same eagerness to enhance our products and make a positive contribution to the community.”
The key difference of the new pyramid tea sachets now offered at all of Woods’s 14 Whatcom County locations lies in its design. The pyramid sachet offers full tea leaves, which completely expand in hot water, giving a more evenly balanced, aromatic, and flavorful cup of tea. Though it uses a smaller compostable tea bag, the new pyramid sachet still offers the same amount of tea leaves.
Another convenience of the pyramid sachet is the string. Previous tea bags tended to drip water onto the outside of the cup, a problem eliminated by the new pyramid sachet. The new design also displays the tea leaves, spices, and, herbs within a silky, translucent bag, giving an aesthetically pleasing experience for the customer.
Like the original bags, the new pyramid sachets are biodegradable and free of glues, inks, staples, and other material that may change the flavor of the tea. They are also non-gmo and gluten free.
Woods will continue to offer all of the same ten tea flavors customers know and love, as well as a special, limited-time holiday flavor.

Tea sales have seen a recent growing trend in North America. More than 500 retail tea outlets have been opened in the past few years, according to the Tea Association of the USA, bringing the nation’s total to more than 3,500. Starbucks opened its first Tazo tea store in November of 2012, before transitioning to the new Teavana brand in 2013.
