A Sutton based company received a business boost from TV Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis. Last week. Nicola Oatham, co owner of Driven By Coffee, tweeted Theo about her business during ‘Small Business Sunday’, an initiative set up by Theo that runs weekly.
Theo re‐tweeted Nicola’s message to his 260,000 followers and as a result, the business (www.drivenbycoffeeshop.co.uk) has 230 more followers than before, and extra orders for their coffee and gift boxes. They are also profiled on a new website (www.theopaphitissbs.com) that is exclusive to Small Business Sunday winners.
Nicola said, “We’ve only been in business 3 months. It’s unbelievable, our Twitter account went crazy all of a sudden. We gained hundreds of new followers in a matter of days.
It is great to have support from Theo because it’s been tough trying to raise our profile and Theo has recognised our hard work and helped spread the word about what we do to his following.
We are proud of the fact that we deliver the best quality coffee possible. We are not out to make a quick profit selling rubbish coffee. We are here to deliver high quality and Theo obviously gets that.”
Husband and Co Owner Jason Oatham and daughter Chloe went to Birmingham to meet Theo Paphitis and some of his business experts in person.
Jason said “It was amazing being a part of something so big. There were approximately 1200 people, all #SBS winners, waiting for Theo to take to the stage to give an inspirational talk and a question & answer session.
As far as business seminars and networking opportunities go, this was massive.
I took my daughter with me because she is studying business at school, and what better opportunity could there be for her than to listen to Theo Pathitis?
I would recommend all small businesses to take part in Small Business Sunday as the simple retweet from Theo can make a huge difference to the number of people who get to hear or read about your business”.
Driven By CoffeeAnyone looking for a re‐tweet from Theo should tweet him about their business on Sunday between 5 PM and 7.30 PM and include the hashtag #SBS. Six lucky businesses are re‐ tweeted every Monday at 8 PM and then invited to enter their profile on the new website.
This is done free of charge and the new website is sponsored by Ryman Stationery, where Theo is Chairman.
