Daylight Mind Coffee Company opens second location in Waikoloa, HI

Daylight Mind, a boutique coffee roaster, bakery and restaurant, continues to win the hearts and taste buds of locals and tourists. Their second coffee bar and restaurant is now open in Queens’ MarketPlace in Waikoloa on the Big Island. “We provide space where people can spend time in a casual and refreshing atmosphere,” says Shawn Steiman, Ph.D. Partner and coffee scientist. “Our fresh, locally-sourced food is served alongside coffee that meets the caliber of any specialty café or roaster on the planet.” Steiman should know since he is a world authority on coffee. He is also the author of The Little Coffee Know-It-All Book (Quarto Publishers 2015) and the Hawaii Coffee Book: A Gourmet’s Guide from Kona to Kauai’i (Watermark Press, 2008).
With award-winning food and coffee, Daylight Mind is designated one of the top U.S. coffee cafes by a dozen media organizations from Fodor’s and Huffington Post to USA Today and foodandwine.com. Their delectable catered desserts have also delighted Alaska Airlines’ first-class passengers. Their menu features ingredients grown on local farms and ranches including customer favorites Hawaii coffee-braised short ribs, Kaua’i prawns, and avocado smash.
The new Waikoloa venue offers a direct line of sight to the Mauna Kea Observatories for a perfect mauka (mountain) view to complement the Kona restaurant’s makai (ocean) views. At 3,000 square foot, this restaurant and coffee bar is sited at the entrance of Queens’ MarketPlace.
The coffee bar at Daylight Mind Waikoloa is open daily from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. The restaurant is open daily from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Daylight Mind takes its name from the literal translation of the Hawaiian word for enlightenment, na‘auao. It weaves a love of scientific exploration together with a deep respect for the wisdom and depth of its Hawaiian roots.
